Frequently asked questions
Does RentTab collect rent from the tenant?add
No. Money moves through banking, off-platform — RentTab keeps track of payment status.
Can I use it for offices or retail units?add
Yes. When you start a rental you choose between flat and office/business mode. Business mode lets you set VAT-itemised rent, rent in euros with VAT shown in forints, per-m² rent, company tenant details, and whether rent is paid in advance or in arrears.
Does RentTab issue invoices?add
If you want it to, yes: there is a built-in invoicing integration. Connect your Billingo or Számlázz.hu account, and the invoice is created in your account from the sent statement, with one click or automatically. It’s optional: if you don’t need invoices or invoice another way, just leave it off — RentTab works fully without it. Connecting requires API access in the invoicing service and a RentTab subscription.
Does it handle tax returns?add
No, that is your accountant’s job. You can invite your accountant to your account with a read-only role, so they see every statement and payment.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?add
Your account switches to read-only mode: all your data stays available, you just can’t record or change anything. You can subscribe again anytime.
Does the tenant have to pay separately?add
No. RentTab is always free for tenants.
What devices does it work on?add
Any modern browser (mobile-first responsive), plus native iOS and Android apps.
Can I try it without a card?add
Yes. The 1-month trial requires no credit card.
Will I be charged automatically after the trial?add
No. You don’t enter a card for the trial, so there is no automatic charge. If you don’t subscribe by the end of the trial, your account switches to read-only mode: all your data stays available and you can subscribe anytime.
Can I add rentals that are already running?add
Yes. When you add a rental, the start date can be in the past: you set when RentTab should start tracking and enter the current meter readings, and everything continues as usual from there. No move-in statement is created for a running rental, but one is created for a deposit you haven’t received yet.
Can I manage several tenants and meters in one property?add
Yes. A rental can have more than one tenant, and you add as many meters to a property as it has (electricity, gas, water, heating and so on).
Do I pay per property or per tenant?add
Per property. The number of tenants in a property doesn’t affect the price, and RentTab is always free for tenants. You don’t pay for paused (vacant) properties.
How does the annual subscription work?add
With annual billing you pay 10 months for 12, so 2 months are free. The volume discount applies to the annual price too.
Can I export my data?add
Yes. In your profile you can download a machine-readable (JSON) export of the data linked to your account, and you can request account deletion there too.
